2005 Telework Stats

2005 Survey Shows Americans Working From Anywhere
ITAC along with research partner Dieringer Research Group found that among the 45.1 million Americans working from home, the average number of locations they work from is 3.4 based on a survey taken between August 15 - September 1, 2005. 20.6 million said they work from their car and 15.1 million at a park or outdoor location.

ITAC's annual telework survey with Dieringer began in 2003 and past news releases on the research results are available from the ITAC site.

Now Available - Resources for Disaster Recovery and Combating High Gas Prices
The recent devastation brought on by Hurricane Katrina stresses the need more than ever for businesses and government agencies to be prepared for natural and man-made disasters. ITAC, through the generous sponsorship of the AT&T Foundation and Cisco Systems, has developed several information resources to help the private and public sector effectively use telework, the ability for employees to work from anywhere, to operate during and more quickly recover from disasters.

Information resources include ITAC's new, 2005 report, "Exploring Telework as a Business Continuity Strategy: A Guide to Getting Started." The 120+ page report provides an 8 step process on how businesses or government agencies can incorporate telework into their continuity plans. The complete report can be ordered in one of two ways -- as a free PDF download or a mailed printed copy for $34.95 or less.

Also available is free, eight-page, PDF download of the Executive Summary and the press release on this new report and the other information resources.

A free webinar on the Research Report is also available online. This audio with PowerPoint webinar explains the 8 step process for incorporating telework into an organization's continuity of operations. Details on accessing the webinar and to order the full report can be found on the Telework America research page.
