Pl@za Help Interactive Business Card

An Interactive Business Card (IBC) is your business card on the Internet. To define your IBC, you must first subscribe to the service. After that, you can start modifying your business card by filling in the pre-existing fields and adding your photo. You can also select whether you want each piece of information to be visible to all Internet users or to community members only. Fields can also be defined as private. This makes them visible only to you and the community administrator.

In addition to your main business card, you can define a CV and link up to three other cards to your main business card. You can use these extra cards to include any additional information you wish, e.g. your hobbies and special interests. On your extra cards, you can add text notes, a photo, and hyperlinks.

Modifying your business card

To modify your business card:

  1. On the navigation bar, click Business Card. The card data is displayed with the information you submitted at registration. You can add more information or change existing information by clicking the Modify button and by typing in the text fields.

  2. To add your photo, type the location where the photo can be found (complete directory path and filename) in the Photo field or use the Browse button to locate the photo file.

  3. For each field, define the scope of display.

  5. When the site supports SMS you will see option relevant to the short message service. If you want to receive SMS messages, enter your mobile phone number in the Mobile field. You can type the number in international (+XXX... where XXX is the country code) or national format, but avoid the use of any spaces or punctuation in it.

If you want other users to be able to download your business card via SMS, select the My business card can be downloaded via SMS check box. Other users can download your business card to their mobile phones, if their phones support the vCard (virtual card) standard.

  6. If you want to receive mail messages through your IBC, select the I want to receive Mail messages check box under your e-mail address.

  7. To include a free-form text note, type it in the Note field. Scroll buttons can be used to navigate through long notes.

  8. When you are ready, click Update changes. Your business card is then saved and included in the community members list.

After saving your card, you can take a look at how it appears.

  • Click the View as Me link to display all the fields including private.

  • Click the View as Group link to preview your business card as the members of your community will see it.

  • Click the View as Public link to see how your card appears to all Internet users.
