The Notification service informs you of changes on the site according to preferences you set. Off-line notifications will be sent to you by e-mail at intervals you can set.

Notification Preferences

Notification Preference page is accessible via a the Preference menu item. This page lists the notification interests you set in the site and allows you to set your own notification settings.

You can view all the notifications you required on the site and you can delete the ones you no-longer require. You can also set your general preferences for notifications for the following.

In order to receive off-line notification e-mails, you need to have e-mail as an allowed communication method. This is handled in the general preference page.

  • Switch off-line notifications ON/OFF.

  • Visualisation and possible selection of next notification date.

  • Interval between notification summaries.

  • Message format for off-line notifications to use: HTML or TEXT.

This page lists the changes made to the site either since you last visited it or since you logged in, according to the notification preferences you set.

Off-line Notification administration

On the Off-line notification administration page, you can make the following adjustments to the off-line notification settings for the site:

  • Switch off-line notifications ON/OFF for the site.

  • Set the standard interval between off-line notification summaries.

  • Choose the time of the day when off-line notifications are created.

  • Display of the next time off-line notifications should be sent. (Display only)

  • View the originator of the off-line e-mail notifications. This can either be a user id (initially set to phoenix) or a valid e-mail address. Note that the specified value will be used as the reply address for the notification messages sent to the users.

  • Set the subject of the off-line e-mail notifications. Note that this is a localized value, what you edit here is only valid for your current locale.

  • Choose whether the default message format for off-line notifications is HTML or TEXT.

  • Switch ON/OFF the sending of notification e-mails that inform the user there are no new notifications.

Notification handlers administration

The Notification handlers list management page lets you choose the order in which the information from the different notification handlers will be displayed in the on-line notification pages and the off-line notification e-mails.

You can also "disable" a notification handler, in which case no output of this type will appear in either the on-line or off-line notification. A disabled notification handler can be re-enabled.
