ITAC About Telework America

Telework America was originally established as Telecommute America in 1995 -- a public-private effort of representatives from government, non-profit and corporate entities bound by their mutual interest in advancing the nation's knowledge and understanding of this workplace option.

Since then Telework America has become ITAC’s promotional and educational program of telework for North America.

In 2003, ITAC under the Telework America brand released the Research Report, Teleworking Comes of Age with Broadband. An executive summary and audio webinar of this report is available for free as an electronic file.

In addition, several webinars were held in 2003 under the Telework America banner, "Shortcuts to Management Resistance and Roadblocks to Telework" and "Managing Remote Performance vs. Managing Performance Remotely, Which is it?" Both of these webinars are available in the Resources section.

In keeping with the intent of Telework America to create ground breaking research in telework, ITAC conducted research in 2004, supported by the AT&T Foundation and Cisco Systems, that evaluated the role and benefits of telework in the continuity of opertations for businesses and government agencies. In 2005, ITAC published the report, Exploring Telework as a Business Continuity Strategy: A Guide to Getting Started. A free electronic copy of report and webinar is now available from this ITAC site.
