About the ITAC Agency Special Interest Committee

Question:
What is the Agency Special Interest Committee?

Answer:
The Agency Special Interest Committee, or ASPIC, is an Agency members-only committee of the International Telework Association & Council, ITAC.

Question:
What is the mission of ASPIC?

Answer:
The ASPIC offers a forum for ITAC Agency members to network, share information, and work collaboratively towards achieving common goals as defined by the ASPIC members. ITAC formed this Committee in order to provide government representatives the opportunity to have honest exchanges among themselves about their telework programs and the services they use. ITAC's ultimate goal is to support its Agency members in advancing work from anywhere.

Question:
Who are ITAC Agency members?

Answer:
Agency members are representatives of federal, state, and local governments, at all levels. Visit ITAC's website for a current listing of Agency members.

Question:
Who may participate in ASPIC?

Answer:
All employees of ITAC Agency members are eligible to participate in ASPIC.

Question:
When and how will ASPIC convene?

Answer:
Initially ASPIC will convene monthly via a toll-free conference call, sponsored by the U.S. General Services Administration. But, depending upon the wishes of the ASPIC members, the Committee may meet more frequently. If members are concentrated in particular geographical areas, local meetings may be held too. Smaller groups or subcommittees may also convene according to members' particular interests or issues.

Question:
How will ITAC determine how ASPIC members wish to operate?

Answer:
Very soon, all ITAC Agency members will be given the opportunity to complete a web-based survey to determine if they have an interest in participating in ASPIC; and if so, how they would like the Committee to operate and what issues they would like the Committee to address. One example of an issue that might be suitable for ASPIC to address, might be the development of a compendium of state and local telework incentives and start-up assistance (like free consultant services) offered to employers/employees in certain regions.

Question:
Who chairs ASPIC?

Answer:
Two ITAC Board Directors, Susan Tierney of Valley Metro in Phoenix, AZ, and Billy Michael of the U.S. General Services Administration, Office of Governmentwide Policy, Washington, DC, co-chair ASPIC.

Question:
Why do government agencies join ITAC?

Answer:
Agencies active in telework join ITAC because it is the one place they can network with and learn from other experienced telework colleagues in and out of government. ITAC also provides market research, forums, conferences and a monthly newsletter to keep its members well informed on the latest developments and thinking in telework.

Answer:
