Frequently Asked
Questions
WorldatWork Acquisition of ITAC
January 2005
What are WorldatWork and ITAC?
WorldatWork is
the world's leading not-for-profit professional association
dedicated to knowledge leadership in compensation, benefits
and total rewards. Founded in 1955, WorldatWork is based
in Scottsdale, AZ and focuses on human resources disciplines
associated with attracting, retaining, and motivating employees.
Founded in 1993, the International
Telework Association and Council is a not-for-profit
organization dedicated to advancing the growth and success
of work independent of location. ITAC includes Fortune
500 firms and federal government agencies as its
members.
Both WorldatWork and ITAC are 501(c)(3) not-for-profit
organizations.
What are some of the key details of
the acquisition?
On January 1, 2005, WorldatWork acquired all of the assets
of ITAC and ITAC is now identified as ITAC, the Telework
Advisory Group for WorldatWork. For 2005, the ITAC dues
structure and many of the member services will continue
as they have in 2004. WorldatWork has asked seven ITAC
members who have formerly held leadership positions
in the association to continue as volunteer advisors during
this transition period.
ITAC members can now attend both the WorldatWork and the
AWLP Conferences (AWLP is a WorldatWork affiliate) at the
preferred member rates. WorldatWork is planning to hold
a telework conference in the Washington, DC area in September,
as ITAC has done for the past several years.
How does ITAC benefit from the WorldatWork
acquisition?
WorldatWork provides ITAC with strong financial backing
and staff resources. These key assets will help improve
telework knowledge, facilitate wider dissemination of telework
information, and advance the concepts and reality of “people
working from anywhere.” WorldatWork has 23,000+ members
that represent an important community to advance telework
by private and public sector employers.
How does WorldatWork benefit from acquiring
ITAC?
During the past few years, WorldatWork has expanded its
mission from “compensation and benefits” to
“total rewards,” which encompasses all of the
ways that employers reward their employees - including
compensation, benefits, and tools to enhance work-life effectiveness.
Recent surveys indicate that employees value work-life effectiveness,
and that this framework for the employer-employee relationship
is becoming increasingly important to attracting, retaining,
and motivating employees. The acquisition of ITAC, along
with AWLP becoming part
of the WorldatWork family of organizations, enables WorldatWork
to better address total rewards.
