ITAC’s TELEWORK AMERICA!
2003 RESEARCH REPORT

Teleworking Comes of Age with Broadband

For this year’s edition of its ongoing series of Telework America! Research projects, ITAC conducted a national survey to measure the impact of broadband and related technologies on work done mainly from home. The published survey report, based on a study conducted by noted telework researcher and analyst, Joanne Pratt, will analyze differences between teleworkers who have broadband to those who only use dial up.

Report Highlights
The final report will contain 50 pages of text and tables. Some of the quantitative results of the study found key differences between teleworkers who use dial up and those using broadband on;

  • Telework participation and frequency
  • Employee work patterns
  • Configuration of home-office set up

The study proves that having “always on” Internet access has a dramatic impact on the way we work. Teleworker use of broadband is directly related to:

  • Gains in employee productivity
  • Reductions in bottom-line costs for companies of all sizes
  • Enabling home-based businesses to compete globally
  • Maintaining data and application security
  • Declines in the use of “face time” to evaluate employee performance
